The number of South Koreans visiting Japan fell by around 5 percent during the first five months of 2019.
According to Korea Tourism Organization, the number of Koreans traveling to Japan had been on the rise, climbing from 1-point-6 million in 2011 to 7-point-5 million in 2018.
But this year, only 3.2 million Koreans visited Japan between January and May, which is 4-point-7 percent down from the same period last year.
And the tourism industry says that the figure could decrease further as the recent economic retaliation from Japan has fostered anti-Japanese sentiment among South Koreans.
Japan was the most visited country by South Koreans last year, followed by Vietnam, the U.S. and the Philippines.
