A pregnant woman en route to a hospital in south India went into labour at a bus stand and delivered a baby daughter with the help of several women on-hand.
Mahadevi Hanumanthavaddar, 28, from Basavana Bagewadi village in Vijayapura district, Karnataka, was being taken to a hospital in Bagalkot city by her husband.
When she was waiting to change the bus at Nidagundi town she started experiencing severe labour pains. A few women at the bus stand set up a screen of saris and helped her deliver a baby.
The mother and her new-born daughter were rushed to a government hospital in Nidagundi where they were looked after by the doctors. Both the mother and daughter are doing well, said doctors.
