Residents in the city of Padang, Indonesia, were baffled and worried to find two so-called hotspots in their home that could potentially be lethal gas deposits.

Footage filmed on February 21 shows the two hotspots, one in front of the door and the other in the corner of a room, that reportedly smell of gas and sometimes emit smoke.

One resident demonstrated the heat by laying down an egg to stand for 30 minutes then removing it, revealing it had cooked in the heat of the spot.

The residents suspect the spots are geothermal vents or even natural gas pockets under the floor of their home, but no official investigation has been launched into the case.

Some residents claimed they were afraid if it was gas, and that if a later investigation proved it to be a gas pocket, they were willing to move away from the area entirely.

The homeowners and other local residents meanwhile have forbidden people approaching the area to smoke.
