About 50 motorcycle taxi operators staged a blockade at the Bukit Kayu Hitam Malaysian-Thai border checkpoint on Sunday morning as a sign of protest.

Kedah State Immigration director Zuhair Jamaludin said the group was believed to have shut the gates as a sign of protests against Malaysia's strict inspection of documents on motorcycle taxis taking passengers from the Thai checkpoint to a duty-free shop in Malaysia.
