he festival of Navratri is being celebrated with great fanfare across the country. During these nine days of Navratri, devotees worship different forms of Maa Durga. Not only this, those who are unable to keep the fast for the entire nine days, they also observe the fast of Ashtami or Durgashtami and also perform Kanjak Puja or Kanya Pujan. On the other hand, Ashtami has special importance in Durga Puja in Bengal, Odisha, Tripura and Manipur.

देश भर में बड़ी धूमधाम से नवरात्रि का त्‍योहार मनाया जा रहा है. नवरात्रि के इन नौ दिनों में मां दुर्गा के अलग-अलग नौ स्‍वरूपों की भक्त आराधना करते हैं. यही नहीं जो लोग पूरे नौ दिनों तक व्रत नहीं रख पाते हैं, वे भी अष्‍टमी या दुर्गाष्‍टमी का व्रत रखते हैं और कंजक पूजा भी करते हैं. वहीं दूसरी तरफ बंगाल, ओडिशा, त्रिपुरा और मणिपुर में दुर्गा पूजा में अष्‍टमी का विशेष महत्‍व है.
