Prasad of Chhath Puja is made on the day of Kharna. Jaggery and rice pudding are made in it, as well as pooris, dates, thekua, etc. Seasonal fruits and some vegetables are also used for worship. The person keeping the fast offers this prasad to the sixth maiya. On the day of Kharna, he takes the Prasad and starts his fast. While making the offerings of Chhath Puja, special care is taken that only mango sticks are used for fire in the stove.

खरना के दिन छठ पूजा का प्रसाद बनाया जाता है. इसमें गुड़ और चावल का खीर बनाया जाता है, साथ ही पूड़ियां, खजूर, ठेकुआ आदि बनाया जाता है. पूजा के लिए मौसमी फल और कुछ सब्जियों का भी प्रयोग होता है. व्रत रखने वाला व्यक्ति इस प्रसाद को छठी मैया को अर्पित करता है. खरना के दिन प्रसाद ग्रहण कर वह व्रत प्रारंभ करता है. छठ पूजा का प्रसाद बनाते समय इस बात का खास ध्यान रखा जाता है कि चूल्हे में आग के लिए केवल आम की लकड़ियों का ही प्रयोग हो.
