India celebrates Army Day every year in commemoration of all those soldiers who laid down their lives while protecting the sovereignty of the country. Both Central & State governments observe the national event of Indian Army Day amidst grandeur festivities. India celebrates its illustrious Army Day on January 15 annually. This year, India celebrates its 73rd Army Day. On January 15, 1949 Field Marshal Kodandera M Cariappa took over as the Commander-in-Chief (C-o-C) of the Indian Army.
