हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार माघ मास में शुक्ल पक्ष की पंचमी तिथि को बसंत पंचमी का पर्व मनाया जाता है। इस बार बसंत पंचमी 16 फरवरी दिन मंगलवार को मनाई जाएगी। इसी दिन से बसंत ऋतु का आगमन भी होता है। इस पर्व को प्रकृति का पर्व माना गया है, इसलिए इस दिन पीले रंग का बहुत महत्व माना जाता है। इसके साथ ही ज्ञान और स्वर की देवी मां सरस्वती की उत्पत्ति भी हुई थी, इसलिए यह दिन विद्यार्थियों, कला, संगीत के क्षेत्र से जुड़े हुए लोगों के लिए बहुत मायने रखता है। बसंत पंचमी पर मां सरस्वती की पूजा की जाती है। इस दिन मां सरस्वती की पूजा करने से अज्ञान रूपी अंधकार दूर होता है और व्यक्ति ज्ञान रूपी उजाले को प्राप्त करता है। यह दिन विद्या आरंभ के लिए सबसे उत्तम माना गया है।
