असम में होने वाले विधानसभा चुनाव को लेकर बीजेपी ने इस बार अपनी रणनीति में एक बड़ा बदलाव किया है,पार्टी ने इस बार असम में कोई मुख्यमंत्री उम्मीदवार घोषित नहीं करने का फैसला किया है. बीजेपी सूत्रों के अनुसार, पार्टी कोई एक चेहरे को आगे रखकर चुनाव नहीं लड़ेगी. यानी मुख्यमंत्री सर्वानंद सोनेवाल मुख्यमंत्री पद के उम्मीदवार नहीं होंगे. ये वाकई एक बड़ा बदलाव है क्योंकि आमतौर पर चुनावी राज्यों के मुख्यमंत्री स्वाभाविक तौर पर, सीएम पद के दावेदार माने जाते हैं. और उन्हीं को प्रोजेक्ट कर अगला चुनाव लड़ा जाता है..लेकिन असम में ऐसा नहीं होगा
