In yet another flare-up at the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the Indian Army thwarted an attempt of the Chinese troops to carry out “provocative military movements to change the status quo”’ in the southern bank of Pangong Tso lake in Ladakh. The incident at the LAC took place overnight between August 29 & 30, the defence ministry statement read on August 31. Defence ministry said that the Indian Army is committed to maintaining peace and tranquility through dialogue, but is also “equally determined to protect its territorial integrity”. Hours after the Indian Army said the Chinese troops attempted to unilaterally change the status quo, China refuted the charges, saying the Chinese border troops "never cross the Line of Actual Control (LAC)".
