Petrol and diesel prices have been continuously increasing for the last several days, due to which the common man's pockets are getting loose, in such a situation, analysts now say that the government has the scope to cut excise duty on petrol and diesel. If the government wants, it can easily reduce excise duty on petrol and diesel by up to Rs 8.5 per liter. This will not affect its revenue too much. ICICI Securities has claimed this in one of its reports.

पेट्रोल और डीजल की कीमतें पिछले कई दिनों से लगातार बढ़ रही हैं, जिसके चलते आम आदमी की जेब ढीली पड़ रही है,ऐसे में अब विश्लेषकों का कहना है कि सरकार के पास पेट्रोल और डीजल पर उत्पाद शुल्क में कटौती करने की गुंजाइश है. सरकार चाहे तो बड़े आराम से पेट्रोल और डीजल पर एक्साइज ड्यूटी में 8.5 रुपये प्रति लीटर तक की कटौती कर सकती है. इससे उसके राजस्व पर भी खास असर भी नहीं पड़ेगा. ICICI सिक्युरिटीज ने अपनी एक रिपोर्ट में यह दावा किया है.
