This year, WHO and partners will mark World Malaria Day by celebrating the achievements of countries that are approaching – and achieving – malaria elimination. They provide inspiration for all nations that are working to stamp out this deadly disease and improve the health and livelihoods of their populations.

आज वर्ल्ड मलेरिया डे है. इस साल इसकी थीम ‘जीरो मलेरिया लक्ष्य की ओर बढ़ना है’। मलेरिया बुखार मच्छरों से होने वाला एक तरह का संक्रामक रोग है, जो फीमेल एनोफिलीज मच्छर के काटने से होता है. इस मादा मच्छर में एक खास प्रकार का जीवाणु पाया जाता है जिसे डॉक्टरी भाषा में प्लाज्मोडियम नाम से जाना जाता है. पहली बार विश्व मलेरिया दिवस 25 अप्रैल 2008 को मनाया गया था।
