Today is the festival of Hariyali teej. On this day, married women keep fast throughout the day for the long life of their husbands. Not only this, unmarried girls also keep this fast to wish for a good husband. It is believed that by observing the fast of Hariyali Teej, the husband of married women gets a long life, while unmarried girls get their desired life partner. On this festival dedicated to good luck and makeup, women and girls apply henna and alta or mahavar on their hands and feet. On Hariyali Teej, husband and wife should worship Shiva and Parvati together. By doing this the problems of married life can be overcome.

आज Hariyali teej का पर्व है। इस दिन सुहागिन महिलाएं अपने पति की लंबी आयु के लिए दिन-भर व्रत रखती हैं। यही नहीं अच्‍छे पति की कामना के लिए अविवाहित लड़कियां भी इस व्रत को रखती हैं। मान्‍यता है कि हरियाली तीज का व्रत रखने से विवाहित स्त्रियों के पति की उम्र लंबी होती है, जबकि अविवाहित लड़कियों को मनचाहा जीवन साथी मिलता है। सौभाग्य और श्रृंगार को समर्पित इस पर्व पर महिलाएं और बच्चियां हाथ-पैरों में मेहंदी और आल्ता या महावर लगाती हैं। हरियाली तीज पर पति-पत्नी को एक साथ शिव-पार्वती की पूजा करनी चाहिए। ऐसा करने से वैवाहिक जीवन की समस्याएं दूर हो सकती हैं।
