Religious authorities detected a total of 33 cases involving deviant teachings and worship, as well as spreading false doctrines and information last year, the Dewan Rakyat was told.
Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary said that on Monday (Dec 13), adding that the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim) and state religious departments would continue enforcement of syariah criminal offences, including deviant teachings, gambling and drink driving-related offences.
According to Ahmad Marzuk, religious authorities also found a total of 334 cases involving gambling as well as 86 cases involving consumption of intoxicating drinks during the same period.
