WEATHER UPDATE: After an “explosive intensification,” tropical cyclone Karding (international name: Noru) has now become a super typhoon, packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 230 kph.
In its 8 a.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 over Polillo Islands in anticipation of strong winds due to the super typhoon.
