West Midlands Police continued to exercise section 60 powers following shots being fired in Washwood Heath on Sunday evening. These powers enable officers to stop and search people suspected of involvement in violence. They were used across the B8 and B9 postcode areas.

A man who died from stab wounds in Kings Heath last week has been named as Ronique Thomas. A 20 year man named Nathaniel Daly alongside a 17 year old who cannot be named have been charged with his murder. Police are appealing for further information.

Birmingham music expert Dr Matt Grimes has issued a plea to protect live music in the city, as restaurateur Alex Claridge is appointed as a Night Time Economy Advisor. The role will see Alex act as a champion for the region's venues as they look to rebuild following a difficult few years.
