Alberto Noya and Gabriel Miller died following an accident happened on 16 July 2006, during the fifth lap of the Turismo Carretera Pista race at Rafaela, Santa Fe, Argentina, 9th round of the 2006 Championship. The Dodge #39 driven by Alberto Noya spun at the exit of the 2nd chicane at the end of the main straight and remained stationery in the middle of the chicane racing line. Four cars avoid the crash, but the Dodge was violently hit into the right door by the Ford #33 of Hugo Fayanas at about 180 km/h.
The co-driver Gabriel Miller was killed upon impact, due to severe polytraumatism with basal skull fracture. Alberto Noya sustained serious head injuries. He was in coma-3 state and was taken to the Rafaela Clinic where he suffered a heart failure but was recovered by doctors' work. Later he was airlifted to Sanatorio Güemes hospital in Buenos Aires. The race was immediately stopped and the event cancelled. Noya died 3 days later.
The Rafaela race was the 21st Turismo Carretera start for Alberto Noya, a well known figure of TC Pista from 2001, his first season in the category. In 2000 he was the Subcampeón of the Alma class.
