The brain is involved in almost everything that we do. It controls our cognitive processes, our physical behaviours and our emotional makeup. Therefore damage to the brain can have a devastating and lifelong effect on the survivor, their families and all those involved in their lives.
Following severe brain injury, patients may have a complex mix of health and social care needs. They often have medical, nursing and therapy requirements as well as accommodation, vocational and financial needs.
