Ilya Sutskever, co-founder and former chief scientist of OpenAI, has launched a new AI company named Safe Superintelligence. The startup, co-founded by Daniel Gross and Daniel Levy, is focused solely on the development of safe AI technologies. Sutskever, who recently left OpenAI after a disagreement over the company's direction, emphasizes that SSI's goal is to ensure safety, security, and progress in AI without the distractions of conventional business pressures. Sutskever and Leike co-led the company's Superalignment team, which concentrated on managing AI systems. The team was disbanded soon after their departure.
