Black Snake Moan (2006) is a drama film directed by Craig Brewer. The story is set in rural Tennessee and follows the lives of two damaged individuals: Lazarus (Samuel L. Jackson), a deeply religious and bitter farmer, and Rae (Christina Ricci), a troubled young woman with a promiscuous past and a history of abuse. After finding Rae beaten and unconscious on the side of the road, Lazarus takes her into his home to "heal" her, both physically and spiritually. In an extreme act, Lazarus chains Rae to his radiator, believing he can save her from her self-destructive behavior and help her find redemption.
The film explores themes of faith, redemption, and the complicated nature of human relationships, set against the backdrop of the blues music that Lazarus plays and loves. It also stars Justin Timberlake as Rae’s boyfriend, Ronnie, who is struggling with his own emotional issues.
