The US government's huge economic stimulus package will invest billions in renewable energies. President Obama wants to greatly reduce the country's dependency on foreign oil. More than $15 billion are earmarked for developing solar and wind energy alone. German companies are poised to profit,for example Schott Solar.With Bill Richardson,New Mexican governor,attending,Schott Solar inaugurated a new solar production facility in Albuquerque,New Mexico on May 11. The company based in Alzenau,Bavaria employs more than 1500 workers worldwide. The Albuquerque project is by far the biggest investment in Schott Solar's history. The plant will produce photovoltaic cells and receivers for solar thermal power stations. The total investment volume is 350 million euros,creating up to 15 hundred good jobs.
