A major tragedy was averted in Hyderabad’s Yakutpura today after a 6-year-old girl fell into an open manhole while walking to school. The incident, caught on CCTV, shows the child slipping into the uncovered pit.

Her mother, who was walking right behind, acted swiftly and pulled her out, saving her life.

According to locals, the manhole was left uncovered by the HYDRAA team, which had opened it for cleaning yesterday but failed to close it back properly. GHMC has been held responsible for negligence.

Thankfully, there was no water flow inside the manhole at the time, allowing the child to escape with only minor injuries.
