The government will table comprehensive amendments to Islamic family and syariah laws in March 2026 to mandate financial support for infirm parents, as Malaysia approaches aged-nation status by 2030.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar told the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Nov 25) that while the draft is being finalised, ongoing advocacy programmes will continue to promote filial responsibility.
