Hailstones white-out southern Brazil, leaving over 200 injured
A hailstorm on Sunday left 246 people injured and caused infrastructure damage in the south of Brazil, according to authorities.
Hailstones damaged vehicles and roofs as over 10,000 families were affected in the city of Erechim, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, the local government reported.
Footage from an eyewitness showed hailstones raining down on a garden and pool. Reuters was able to confirm the location and date of the footage by original file metadata from the source.
Personnel from the Civil Defense, firefighters and military brigades, in addition to volunteers, were assessing and clearing up the damage, said officials.
