European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has criticised U.S. threats of new tariffs over Greenland, calling them “simply wrong” during a speech in the European Parliament in Strasbourg. She stressed that Greenland’s future must be decided by its people and warned that coercive measures undermine sovereignty and international law. European Council President Antonio Costa echoed the concerns, saying further tariffs could harm transatlantic relations as the EU pledged to defend its interests.
