U.S. President Donald Trump is facing calls for impeachment after sharing a controversial AI-generated video on his Truth Social account showing former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama depicted as apes — a racist trope that triggered widespread bipartisan backlash.

The video, which also recycled false claims about the 2020 election, was deleted by the White House after outrage, with officials saying a staffer posted it in error.

Critics from both parties — including Republican Sen. Tim Scott, who called it the “most racist thing” he’s seen from the White House, and GOP Rep. Mike Lawler, who urged apologies — condemned the post.

Democratic Rep. Al Green has seized on the incident to demand Trump’s impeachment, accusing him of racist conduct and recklessness and saying Congress has a duty to act.
