Sir Elton John comes into full bloom.
The World Orchid Convention in Singapore has named one of the 75 different species and hybrids of the flower after the British singer.
John turned the ceremony into a family event, walking the red carpet with his partner David Furnish and son Zachary.
The hybrid, known as Doritaenopsis, will now have the more pronounceable name of Sir Elton John.
SOUNDBITE: Elton John, singer, saying (English):
"And I've had a lupin named after me, and a rose, but never an orchid. This is a great honor, as I'm an avid lover of gardens, I have a beautiful garden in England and in France."
While in town, John will be performing at the Singapore Indoor Stadium - then continues his "Greatest Hits Tour" in Malaysia.
