As Latin America's business elite meet at the World Economic Forum in Brazil, many of the region's poor are struggling in the midst of the global economic downturn.

In the slums of Brazil, unsurprisingly it is the poorest people who are often the worst affected. Gabriel Elizondo went to one such neighbourhood in Rio de Janeiro to see how the people there were coping.
