Politicians are outraged over the fact that Ralph Lauren, the man and brand behind the Olympic uniforms, manufactures the Olympic uniforms in China.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid told the press, "They should take all the uniforms, put them in a big pile and burn them and start all over again."
Other politicians are saying this is un-American. Really? Designing, branding and marketing clothing in the US. while outsourcing the manufacturing costs to a cheaper country sounds pretty American to us!
Truth is, many Americans do not want jobs in hot factories, working for hours on end. Even if they were to want these jobs, there is not enough work to resuscitate the weak job market — main point of contention for US politicians.
Ralph Lauren has promised to manufacture the 2014 Winter Olympic Uniforms in the US Cool your jets Harry Reid!
