Temperatures are frigid and no one is going anywhere fast .
A severe winter storm hits the central and southern parts of United States on Christmas Day -- and is moving east.
Even with much of the country on vacation -- for some the white blanket is anything but welcome....

"I like the snow it's beautiful out here, but it's just too cold and the power is out, and I don't like it when the power is out."
In Kentucky trucks are out clearing the roads. Powerlines are coated in snow. And there are drivers wishing they never ventured out.
The National Weather Service is now issuing winter storm warnings for much of the Northeast -- making for dangerous travel in the holiday season.
