The Big Yellow Ball
by Barbara Lynn Terry
Over the mountains it came,
The big yellow ball.
Smiling it said, “this day I claim,
For one and all.”
Go out and play
In my warm rays,
Splash around at the beach,
Or for the sky reach
Inside your dreams,
While for each other you scream
Your love forevermore
On the sandy shore,
That each other will never part
Because of Cupid’s arrow art.
Even though we lose a love,
Let us not throw down the glove,
But go on and on, looking for another.
The heart is a lonely hunter,
Love is a fleeting shadow,
Surreal in the shallow
Of the human mind,
But it is we in kind
That can pull away,
As we smile and say;
Over the mountains it came,
The big yellow ball.
Smiling it said, “this day I claim
For one and all.”
