New Jersey State Police are asking for assistance in finding the motorist who struck a cruiser and continued on driving. The incident happened on Saturday, October 11th.
At approximately 10:30 at night, New Jersey State Troopers had pulled a car over in a routine stop. Both cops had been standing on the passenger side and away from traffic on the interstate while speaking to the driver of that vehicle.
Suddenly a light colored Jeep side-swiped the cruiser and came extremely close to the stopped car.
A note on the Facebook page of New Jersey State Police reads “If either of the troopers were standing on the driver's side of the stopped car, this would be an altogether different kind of post.”
It was also pointed out that the incident shows how dangerous it is for troopers doing their jobs on the side of the road.
The police car sustained some damage as a result of the hit-and-run. It looks as though the side mirror was ripped off.
