Janë përuruar ne Kosove 38 km e para te autostradës Vermice-Merdar.
Ne ceremoni merrnin pjese personalitete te larta nga Kosova dhe Shqipëria nder te cilët presidentja Jahjaga, kryeministri Thaci dhe shefi i qeverise shqiptare Berisha, i shoqëruar nga kongresmeni amerikan Eliot Engel si dhe ambasadori amerikan Christofer Dell. Presidentja Jahjaga e përshkroi autostradën e re si një ëndërr te bere realitet. Kryeministri kosovar, Hashim Thaci e quajti ndërtimin e kësaj autostrade si investimin me strategjik për zhvillimin e Kosovës. sipas tij, ky është projekti i shekullit te ri, lirisë, pavarësisë dhe integrimit si dhe projekti qe bashkoi njëherë e mire Kosovën dhe Shqipërinë. Kryeministri Berisha, tha se vazhdimi i Rrugës se Kombit, do ti afroje shqiptaret me shume se kurrë. Puna për ndërtimin e autostradës Vermice-Merdar nisi ne prill te vitit 2010. Nen propozimin e qeverise se Kosovës, autostrada ka marre emrin e ish presidentit te ndjere "Ibrahim Rugova" dhe është cilësuar si projekti qe do te përshkoje te gjithë vendin, nga Vermica ne kufi me Shqipërinë dhe deri ne Merdar, ne kufi me Serbinë.

In the ceremony participated dignitaries from Kosovo and Albania, among whom President Jahjaga, Prime Minister Thaci and the Albanian government chief Berisha, accompanied by U.S. Congressman Eliot Engel and U.S. Ambassador Christopher Dell. President Jahjaga new highway described as a dream to become reality. Kosovo Prime Minister Hashim Thaci called the construction of this highway as a strategic investment for development of Kosovo. According to him, this is the project of the new century, freedom, independence and integration, and project that brought together once and Kosovo and Albania. Premier Berisha said that the continuation of the Nation Street, Albanians will pull them more than ever. Work on building-Merdar Vërmicë began in April 2010. Under the proposal the Government of Kosovo, the highway is named after the former late president "Ibrahim Rugova" and is set to the project that will traverse the whole country, from the border with Albania Vermicë and up to Merdare, on the border with Serbia.
