Qe prej largimit nga Shqipëria me 7 prill te vitit 1939,i njohur si pushtimi fashist,familja mbretërore ka patur një marrëdhënie te vështire me njerëzit qe kane drejtuar Shqipërinë me për dekada me radhe.
Ne vitin 46 republika komuniste miratoi ligjin qe i ndalonte trashëgimtareve te kurorës te ktheheshin ne atdhe,me akuzën e tradhtisë kombetare.Pertej sulmeve te regjimit komunist; edhe ne fillimet e tranzicionit shqiptar familja mbretërore u sulmua dhe ne vitin 93,ne vizitën e pare te Leka Zogut ne Shqipëri,qysh pas arratise,u përzu për 24 ore nga vendi,me urdhër te presidentit te kohës Sali Berisha. Ne vitin 2002 disa deputete te majte dhe te djathte nënshkruan një peticion me kërkesën qe familja mbretërore te kthehej e te vendosej ne Shqipëri, por pa shfuqizuar kurrë formalisht ne parlament,vendimin qe ia ndaloje Zogolleve një gjë te tille. Pas këtij viti,leka zogu dhe familja e tij u integrua ne shoqërinë shqiptare; dhe tashme edhe protokolli shqiptar e ka te përfshire statusin e kësaj familje. 2 dekada pas ardhjes se rrëzimit te regjimit komunist; duket se familja mbretërore është përshtatur me sistemin republikan; dhe princi Leka është bere pjese e administratës shtetërore ne sistemin e republikës ne vitin 2007 si këshilltar i Ministrit te Jashtëm dhe tani këshilltar pranë Ministrit te Brendshëm.
