The ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to Malaysia Kang Chol arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport on Tuesday, confirmed one CCTV reporter who took the same flight.
The ambassador, his wife and daughter arrived at approximately 00:16 aboard flight MH360, which left Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 18:25 local time. They were confirmed as walking through the VIP corridor but kept a low profile to evade reporters.
They took cars from the DPRK embassy in Beijing and left the airport soon after.
It is likely that the ambassador will spend his night here in Beijing. CCTV reporters have also confirmed that the earliest flight bound for Pyongyang will depart at noon tomorrow.
The Malaysian government declared the ambassador on Saturday night as "persona non grata" and urged him to leave Malaysia within 48 hours amid a row over the investigation into the death of a DPRK man who was poisoned at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and later died on way to hospital.
