The annual Halloween parade in Greenwich Village, New York City, carried on as scheduled hours after a truck attack that left eight dead.

In full holiday spirit, people took to the streets in elaborate costumes and make-up for the city’s 44th annual parade.

The festivities began at 7 pm. Just four hours earlier, an Uzbekistan man rammed a truck into pedestrians in lower Manhattan, killing eight people and injuring over a dozen. The attacker was identified as 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, and according to the New York Times was in critical condition as of Tuesday night.
