Police have named a man suspected in the murder of Murray Bridge mother Sally Rothe, found dead in her home on February 4.
In a press conference on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 6, Detective Superintendent Des Bray appeared with a statement from Travis Kirchner’s sister, Tracy.
He said Kirchner was known in the Murray Bridge “drug scene,” and police said Rothe and Kirchner were linked through drugs in a Facebook statement.
Bray said Kirchner did not have a car and was likely being “harboured or assisted by people” and the last known sighting of the man was on 11pm, Sunday, February 4.
“This is a person that has basically beat an elderly lady to death and he needs to be held accountable for what he’s done,” Bray said. Anyone found to be hiding Kirchner is liable to life imprisonment.
In a written statement, Tracy said: “Travis, I’m really worried about what has been going on over the past few days and I want you to hand yourself over to police.”
She asked her brother to call her and they could attend a police station together.
