NewsX: The indefinite strike called by Gorkha Janmukti Morcha begins in Darjeeling today as the chorus for a separate state of Gorkhaland grows louder by the day.

Dubbing this as a do or die movement, GJM Chief Bimal Gurung has reiterated that there is no question of going back on the demand for Gorkhaland and that GJM activists are even ready to lay down their lives for the cause of a separate state.

All shops, schools, colleges, banks and government offices have been brought under the purview of the strike. GJM had given a two day bandh relaxation on Thursday and Friday to allow tourists and students leave the hills.
