U.S. President Donald Trump claims his administration may reach a trade deal with China sooner than expected.
Speaking to reporters in New York on Wednesday after inking a trade deal with Japan, Trump added that Beijing wants to make a deal very badly, and the Chinese were already making big agricultural purchases from the U.S., including beef and pork.
Over the past year, the world's two largest economies have imposed tariffs on billions of dollars worth of the other's goods.
Trade negotiations between senior U.S. and China officials are expected to resume in Washington early next month.
