The Panchami date of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Magha is called Basant Panchami. This day has been of great importance in Indian society both religiously and culturally. माघ महीने की शुक्ल पक्ष की पंचमी तिथि को बसंत पंचमी कहा जाता है। इस दिन का धार्मिक और सांस्कृतिक दृष्टि से भारतीय समाज में काफी महत्व रहा है। पुराणों के अनुसार इस दिन ब्रह्माजी ने देवी सरस्वती का सृष्टि में आह्वान किया था और देवी का प्राकट्य हुआ था। यही वजह है कि युग-युग से इस दिन लोग देवी सरस्वती की पूजा करते आए हैं। इस दिन ज्ञान की वृद्धि और उन्नति के लिए बच्चों की शिक्षा शुरू करने की भी परंपरा रही है। ज्योतिषियों के मतानुसार 30 जनवरी 2020 के दिन वसंत पंचमी मनाई जाएगी और माता सरस्वती की पूजा का दिन भी इसे माना गया है ।
