नवरात्रि में पहले दिन से आखिरी दिन तक ज्योति जलती रहती है। इस दौरान ज्योति को बुझाना नहीं चाहिए वरना पूजा अधूरी मानी जाती है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि अखंड दीप जलाकर पूजा करने से बहुत पुण्य की प्राप्ति होती है। अखंड ज्योति जलाकर पूजा करने की अलग विधि व नियम है। इसी ज्योति के सामने नौ दिनों तक पूजा की जाती है। इस दौरान कुछ बातों का ध्यान देना चाहिए।
