Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam is likely to become the fastest player to score 2000 Twenty20 International (T20I) runs in the ongoing three-match series against Zimbabwe. The 26-year-old only require 17 runs to achieve the feat and break Indian skipper Virat Kohli’s record who completed the 2000-run mark in 56 innings. Babar, who advanced to no. 2 spot in ICC’s rankings for top T20I batsmen, has scored a total of 1983 runs in 51 innings. The Pakistani skipper is in top form these days as he won Man of the Series in the recently concluded four-match series against South Africa. Babar, who scored 210 runs at an average of 52.50, was the highest run-getter among both teams.
