Meaning of the lyrics:
Snow is falling. His tall wooden clogs sink into the snow.
He is holding shibu-janome (Japanese-style umbrellas dyed with tannin and capable of opening in two stages).
He tells Terasaka Kichiemon,”Follow me.”
Kuranosuke is in Nambuzaka [a famous scene in Chūshingura: In the original lyrics, the real name Kuranosuke is replaced by Yuranosuke, the name used in the story of Chūshingura]
The sound of the Yamagaryū drum beating echoes in the dark night.
Ōishi Kuranosuke seeks to avenge his lord's grudge.
And the Forty-seven rōnin fulfill their mission.

Description:
Tankaibushi was created by the theater actor Shiganoya Tankai during the Taishō period (1912-1926), so it can be classified as a modern min'yō. However, the lyrics in this recording are entirely different from the commonly known Tankaibushi and instead recount the popular story of revenge, Chūshingura. While it is typical for min'yō to have lyrics that change freely according to the situation, but it is unclear where the lyrics came from.
