In some parts of India, the idol of Maa Saraswati is installed in the pandals a few days before Basant Panchami and the idol is immersed the next day after the puja festival of Goddess Saraswati with great pomp. In many parts of North India, Basant Panchami is also known as Sri Panchami and Saraswati Panchami. In fact yellow is considered a symbol of spring. Spring is a season that is the greatest of all seasons and all seasons. Neither strong sunlight is felt in this season, nor winter nor summer nor rain. Spring is called the pink cold season.

भारत के कुछ हिस्सों में बसंत पंचमी से कुछ दिन पहले ही पांडालों में मां सरस्वती की प्रतिमा स्थापित की जाती है और बसंत पंचमी के दिन धूमधाम से देवी सरस्‍वती का पूजनोत्सव करने के बाद अगले दिन प्रतिमा को विसर्जित कर दिया जाता है। उत्तर भारत के कई हिस्सों में बसंत पंचमी को श्री पंचमी और सरस्वती पंचमी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। वास्तव में पीले रंग को वसंत का प्रतीक माना जाता है। वसंत ऋतु एक ऐसी ऋतु है जो सभी मौसमों और सभी ऋतुओं में सबसे बड़ी है। इस मौसम में न तो अधिक तेज धूप महसूस होती है, ना ही सर्दी और ना ही गर्मी और ना ही बारिश। वसंत ऋतु को गुलाबी ठंड का मौसम कहा जाता है।
