For the third time in his career, Ajinkya Rahane will don the captain's hat as he will be leading Team India in the final three Test matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Virat Kohli, India's all-format captain, returned home after the pink-ball Test for the birth of his first child. Rahane, who was named Kohli's deputy before the start of the 2016/17 season, had made his captaincy debut against Australia in 2017. A year later, he once again led the Test side when Kohli missed the one-off Test against Afghanistan.
